Star Trek Easter Egg Is A Reminder Earth Was Attacked in DS9

Summary
  • The season 4 finale of Star Trek: Lower Decks features the Golden Gate Bridge in two different time periods, highlighting Earth's previous attack in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
  • The first appearance of the bridge is in a flashback to Starfleet Academy in 2368, while the second appearance shows it 13 years later, looking as new as ever.
  • A researcher from Star Trek: Picard speculates that the bridge's pristine condition in the future timeline is due to its reconstruction after the Breen attacked Earth in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4's finale shows the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in two different time periods, and it's a reminder that Earth was attacked in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Lower Decks season 4's final episode kicks off with a flashback to Starfleet Academy in 2368, right before the events of the Star Trek: The Next Generation season 5 episode, "The First Duty," where the Golden Gate Bridge is visible in the background. When the bridge is seen again later in Lower Decks season 4's finale, 13 years later, the iconic San Francisco landmark comparatively looks as good as new.
On Twitter/X, Jörg Hillebrand (@gaghyogi49), who was a researcher for Star Trek: Picard season 3, shared screencaps of the Golden Gate Bridge in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4's finale, and he speculates that the bridge is shinier and cleaner because it was rebuilt after the Breen attacked Earth in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Check out his post below:
The Breen did the unthinkable and targeted Earth in the waning days of the Dominion War as seen in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 7.
Star Trek: Prodigy executive producer Aaron J. Waltke also reminds fans that the restored Golden Gate Bridge was seen at the end of Prodigy season 1, set a couple of years after Lower Decks season 4's finale.
